INT/ADV AUGUST CONTEMPORARY WORKSHOP

Service Description

*We have two rates for this session. This rate is suitable for those working in dance e.g. makers/teachers and dance students. An intermediate/advanced drop-in contemporary workshop for those adult movers who wish to keep strengthening and honing their contemporary technique in connection with others and the space under the careful guidance of Orley This 'Dynamic Release' contemporary class draws from a range of techniques including: Release, Limón, Cunningham & Passing Through. The sessions start with warm up / 'joint oiling' exercises such as spine work, gentle floor phrases and plie work. Gradually building up, there will then be more dynamic phrases that go in/through/out of the floor as well as swinging & travelling phrases that move dynamically through space, three dimensionally. These set exercises are sometimes supported and enriched by improvisational scores and 'crossing patterns/drills'. At the end we work on a lengthier sequence providing an opportunity to bring all of the session thinking together. * Ideally we work bare foot in these classes. Knees & shoulders are best covered to facilitate sliding. * If you can not afford this class but would like to attend, please get in touch as we can probably support you and make an affordable plan. *If you would like a slower paced contemporary class, we have one on Wednesday this week
